Indiespace.com,
an Internet application service provider for independent arts
and entertainment, announces it is teaming up with the Newport
Beach Film Festival (NBFF) to promote filmmakers online. Created
and hosted by Indiespace.com, the online project allows
filmmakers to showcase comprehensive information about their
films, including video streaming, stills, synopses, credits and
contact information. The project will also include information
about the festival’s shorts series, created by Scott Forrest
of SMASH CUTS! and drawn from other indie film festivals. Links
on the NBFF website (http://newportbeachfilmfest.com) and
Indiespace.com will lead into the filmmakers' promotional areas,
making it easy for site visitors to discover high-quality
independent films.
"I believe this to be
an awesome opportunity, not only for NBFF but for the filmmakers
as well," said NBFF Chair Gregg Schwenk. "It's the
type of opportunity that separates the great festivals from the
good -- and, from the perspective of the independent filmmaker,
if you're not on the Net you're nowhere. “It’s great
to work with other organizations that have the same desire to
support independent filmmakers as we do,” said Indiespace.com
CEO and Founder Jeannie Novak. “Hopefully, the project we are
doing will bring filmmakers one step closer to reaching their
goals. It also
allows us to provide co-exposure for the hundreds of independent
musicians using our service - many of whom are interested in
music licensing for film and soundtrack composition.”
In addition to an exclusive selection of award-winning
independent films from around the world, NBFF will be hosting a
series of in-depth panels. Indiespace.com Founder and CEO
Jeannie Novak will participate in “Stake Your Claim: Hollywood
and the New Media” and will moderate “The Music World”
panel, which will also include Mark Northam, co-founder of the
Film Music Network; Linda Kordek, owner of The Kordek Agency
(representing film composers); and Rich Ragsdale,
film/television composer.
Indiespace.com offers a unique set of services designed
to help independent filmmakers, musicians and other
entertainment professionals promote their works online,
including “dotcom” web hosting, e-commerce, and promotional
opportunities. Indiespace.com’s
filmmakers can target their works to consumers and industry
professionals specifically interested in independent film –
without competition from big-budget titles like those found on
other Internet film sites.
The Newport Beach Film Festival will
premiere March 30, 2000 and last for eight days. The festival
will showcase films from around the world including feature
length, shorts, documentaries and animations that will compete
for a series of awards including the Jury Award, Audience Award,
and the Director's Award.
