| JEANNIE NOVAK CHOSEN FOR THE 10th ANNUAL
MICROTIMES 100
LOS ANGELES, CA - Jeannie Novak, owner/founder of the Kaleidospace web site, has been chosen as one of the 10th Annual MicroTimes 100. Issue #160 of the popular computer trade publication compares the 1997 list to the original Top 100 published in 1987 with many interesting observations on the course the computer industry has followed during the decade. With respect to Jeannie and Kspace, the MicroTimes editors had the following to say: "...Novak founded Kaleidospace on January 1st, 1994 as an online promotion and distribution source for independent art, music and film. Today her site features the work of over 500 independent artists, musicians, writers, performers, CD-ROM authors, filmmakers, animators and software developers, and has spotlighted artists including singer Tom Jones, musician Thomas Dolby, horror writer Clive Barker, and sci-fi author Dr. David Brin. Novak augments the site with other work aimed at helping creative types make good use of the Internet in reaching new audiences--her new book Creating Internet Entertainment offers tips for effective use of the new in presenting artistic work, and her Reign of Fire CD-ROM [Note: This is actually an audio Internet-Ready CD] release includes a link to the Web site for further info. Enthuses one of her employees: "In our somewhat biased opinion here at Kspace, Jeannie is truly an 'unsung' hero. She is one of the very few people who has managed to run a self-funded, profitable Internet-based content-only business for almost three years. In a largely male-dominated field she is a role model for other women using the Internet, and she provided the first introduction to the potential of the Internet to literally thousands of people in the arts and entertainment industry."
