*Guerilla Marketing for Musicians*
In today's tough climate, knowing how to market music is more important
than ever. This seminar presents effective, unconventional, low-cost
strategies for marketing music -- utilizing the Internet and other
non-traditional media, without the hype and expense. Use targeted media
mailings, fan clubs, newsletters, webrings, affiliate programs, and viral
marketing to develop a plan tailored to your own projects. Shifts in
structural and stylistic trends in music will be covered, along with
advice on how to capture the new teen music market.
Friday, July 18, 2003; 9:00-10:15am
*Online Game Development for Designers*
Online multiplayer games (also known as Massively Multiplayer Online Role
Playing Games [MMORPGs]) have emerged from the post-Internet bubble to
form a growing part of the multibillion-dollar interactive entertainment
industry. With hundreds of thousands of players in the US alone paying
monthly subscription fees to play online, the online game industry
provides great career opportunities -- especially for artists and
designers. Online multiplayer games represent a synthesis of virtual
reality, artificial intelligence, virtual communities, online
education, and online entertainment. Attend this session if you are an
artist or designer interested in making the transition to this new medium.
Topics include interface, content, and level design; incorporating social
interaction and communication; and understanding the production process,
testing strategies, infrastructure, and marketing unique to this industry.
