CREATING INTERNET ENTERTAINMENT, KALEIDOSPACE'S INDUSTRY GUIDE, TO DEBUT ON BOOKSTORE SHELVES IN NOVEMBER

LOS ANGELES, CA - Kaleidospace (http://kspace.com), an Internet company which has helped to define the shape of independent online entertainment since early 1994, has announced publication of their new book, Creating Internet Entertainment: A Complete Guide for Web Developers and Entertainment Professionals. Authored by Kaleidospace founder Jeannie Novak and partner Pete Markiewicz - and published by Wiley Computer Books - Creating Internet Entertainment will be available in major bookstores, at trade shows, and on the Internet's World Wide Web beginning in November 1996. As its title suggests, it will be the first major publication addressing Internet entertainment from the industry's perspective. More than a travelogue or development manual, Creating Internet Entertainment examines the full range of issues associated with "Intertainment" today. It will be as valuable to individual artists and entertainers as to industry professionals such as agents, managers and executives.

Creating Internet Entertainment is divided into five sections, each considering an essential aspect of Intertainment. Quotes from members of today's Intertainment community help to place the information into a personal perspective. Section I explores topics such as audience demographics, Internet content providers, and the pros and cons of taking existing entertainment online. The second and third sections of the book provide blueprints for developing Intertainment including concept development, web site construction, and effective techniques for netpublicity, web site maintenance and revenue generation. The next section considers the many faces of Intertainment today. Traditional (e.g., music, film, broadcast, visual art and performance), recreational (e.g., sports, travel, games, personals) and new Intertainment (e.g., episodic web fiction, virtual worlds and collaborative art) are all discussed, complete with links to key web sites. The final section of the book examines Intertainment in the larger context of cyberlaw, cyberculture and cybermedia, and concludes with the future of entertainment on the web.

Each copy of Creating Internet Entertainment includes a CD-ROM providing simple, one-step installation of Internet access software. Using this software, anyone with a computer and modem can access Internet entertainment - using a state-of-the-art web browser and cutting-edge "plug-ins" adding audio, video and multimedia to their online experience. The first stop online is the support site for the book (http://kspace.com/intertainment), which provides updates and additions to the text. If you're not already online, the CD-ROM can help you see Intertainment for itself!

Creating Internet Entertainment is a must for anyone in the industry. If you've been waiting for a clear, definitive guide to the emerging world of Intertainment, this book is for you. Check major bookstores, or reserve your copy by contacting Kaleidospace at editors@kspace.com.
