INDIESPACE.COM HOSTS ONLINE VENUE FOR SANTA MONICA FILM FESTIVAL'S NEW PROJECT, "THE FILM MARKET" (2/21/2000)

LOS ANGELES/SANTA MONICA, CA

Indiespace.com, the premiere Internet company for independent arts and entertainment, announces it is hosting “The Film Market”, a groundbreaking project from the Santa Monica Film Festival (SMFF) that connects independent filmmakers directly with theaters, broadcasters, and other interested licensors.

Designed by Indiespace, “The Film Market” is a web site that will contain over 350 independent films by filmmakers involved in the  Santa Monica Film Festival. Each film on the site offers a synopsis, cast and crew credits and contact information. Links on the Santa Monica Film Festival website and Indiespace.com will lead into “The Film Market” – making it easy for potential licensors to discover high quality independent films.

“We’re creating a place where millions of people can come and view the great work of independent filmmakers worldwide,” said Albert De Quay, president and founder of SMFF.

“Working together is natural, since we’re both interested in furthering the opportunities and options for independent filmmakers,” said Indiespace.com CEO and founder Jeannie Novak.

Indiespace.com offers a unique set of services designed to help independent filmmakers promote their films online, including “dotcom” web hosting, e-commerce, and promotional opportunities.  Indiespace.com’s filmmakers can target their works to consumers and industry professionals specifically interested in independent film – without competition from big-budget titles like those found on other Internet film sites.

The Santa Monica Film Festival is a year-round festival that includes a series of over 200 independent shorts and feature-length films, and culminates with the annual Moxie! Awards festival. This year’s Moxie! Awards will be held from February 25 through February 28, and will include awards and prizes for filmmakers, a tribute to Joe Montegna, panel discussions, and a special retrospective work on the director Martin Scorsese. Indiespace’s Jeannie Novak will be appearing in a panel titled “Producing Content for the Web” at 3pm on Saturday, February 26th.
