INDIESPACE.COM TO PROVIDE ONLINE DISTRIBUTION SERVICES FOR BIJOU CAFE FILMMAKERS (2/11/2000)

LOS ANGELES/SANTA MONICA, CA

While big-name web sites chase an increasingly reluctant Hollywood, Indiespace.com, the premier Internet company for independent arts and entertainment, announced an alliance with Bijou Café, an established web site for indie film fans. Indiespace will use its resources to provide Bijou Café’s independent filmmakers with an online alternative to traditional Hollywood-based distribution and marketing.

In addition to e-commerce and “dotcom” hosting services that allow filmmakers to sell “hard copy” VHS, PAL or DVD product direct to consumers, Indiespace.com will provide Bijou’s filmmakers with pay-per download distribution of independent film via the emerging broadband Internet. Bijou filmmakers in need of original music for soundtracks will also have access to over 10,000 tracks in the Indiespace music library.

“Dave and I have chosen to work together because we share a common vision for independent filmmakers; we want to give them a way of developing their own projects without ‘selling out,’” said Jeannie Novak, CEO of Indiespace.

“It’s simple,” said Dave Coleman, President of Bijou Café. “I want independent filmmakers to be able to make films the way they want to – without committees. Indiespace and Bijou are going to help them do that.”

The alliance brings together a unique set of Internet entertainment pioneers. Indiespace.com has operated on the web since 1994 -- providing  "dotcom" web hosting, design, e-commerce and promotional services exclusively for independent musicians, visual artists, authors, performers and filmmakers.  Bijou Café, online since 1998, is an increasingly popular destination for film lovers interested in unusual and hard-to-find indie film titles.  Both companies were founded and are run by artists who share a dedication to helping independents maximize marketing opportunities on the Internet.

Future plans include video streaming, live webcasting, and original content. To visit Indiespace.com, go to http://indiespace.com.  Bijou Café can be found at http://bijoucafe.com.
